My First Blog!!!

I have attempted several times to keep a personal journal and it always fails. Possibly by starting out with a public blog, it might help me to make my way up to the goal of keeping a personal journal. Just a thought.

SUNDAY. The best day of the week!! Today I had the opportunity to attend church. That is what makes Sunday so good! It is truly a blessing to have this gospel in my life. I am so thankful for Marissa and her family .. and there diligence in teaching me the gospel by their examples and words. Today I got set apart in my new calling as a Ward Missionary. I am so excited!!!!!! I attended my first, "Ward Missionary" meeting today and my first assignment is to read a chapter in preach my gospel and to hand out a pass-along card to whomever I feel inspired to give one to this week. After church I took Jay ( A new friend of mine I pick up and drop off for church) back to his dorm at Johnson and Whales and waited while he changed to go over to Jay's ( a different Jay, often refereed to as "Jayster") house! When we got there "Jayster" was up in his room taking a nap to Jamie ( my bestie), Jay, and I watched WE wedding Sunday TV downstairs. I'm actually surprised how well Jay took to that idea. At times I think he was paying more attention to Rich Bride, Poor Bride then Jamie and I were. At 6:00 I had a meeting with President Jackson about attending BYU or BYU-H. Pretty much he just asks you questions to see if a church school is the right option for you. He helps you understand that at the BYU's you have to follow their rules and guidelines as well as the church's rules and guidelines. It all sounds GREAT to me!! After I was done I went back over to Jay's because he was having the Elders and the Sisters over for a hamburger helper dinner... yum! Non of the investigators that Jay invited showed up but we still had a really good dinner. Elder Perkins told a interesting story. It starts out about him explaining how he was a "loner" in the fourth grade. His parents were getting a divorce so he moved to a neighboring city with his Dad. It was his first day in a new school in the forth grade and it was recess time. He was city in the field all by himself when this boy came up to him and accused him of stealing his Yo-Yo at the end of last school year. The boy was demanding it back but Elder Perkins had no idea who he was. The boy ( which I think his name was Mark) got angry with Elder Perkins and decided to punch him in the YOOOO HOOOO..... Elder Perkins said he cried. He wanted revenge! Elder Perkins said he gathered up all the loners to create a posse and they were going to get this boy Mark back for what he did! They planned it all out and when the day came for revenge Elder Perkins and two other boys walked up to Mark ready to fight and just as Elder Perkins was ready to go .... the two boys bailed!!! Elder Perkins was still all about getting his revenge so he beat this Mark kid up. Later when he was in the principles office he tells her the whole story. The principle then responds with .... mark is mentally re tarted ...... Elder Perkins had NO IDEA!!! hahahahhahahahha
There is no way that I do this story justice, but it was sure hilarious to hear it during dinner.
After dinner Jayster, Jam, Jay, and I played a quick game of Phase 10 ( A Sunday staple here in Charlotte) ... Jayster won!

On a more serious note... a lot changes in a year!! I was thinking all day... this time last year I was at a sorority bid party...getting my bid...for Zeta Tau Alpha. That was one of the coolest days in my life...
Freshman year I was a little wild but I'm glad it happened. It made me appreciate and understand the atonement even better. You must fall in order to rise back up... ( a thought that was shared in Sunday school class today).

It's off to bed. I'm singing out with my first post!!! :)

  1. Of course if you never fall down you don't need to worry about getting up, plus you keep your pants clean ;)

Haha, welcome to the Blogosphere and good luck with the Y applications!
